Bury St Edmunds
Can you inspire the next generation of creators to see the world through a different lens? We are looking for an artist and educator who can turn a blank canvas into a masterpiece of student engagement.
We are seeking a visually inspired and technically skilled Qualified Art Teacher (QTS) to join our partner Secondary School in Bury St Edmunds. Whether your expertise is in fine art, digital media, textiles, or photography, we need a teacher who can nurture technical skill while encouraging bold, individual expression. This is a role for a practitioner who believes that Art is not just a subject, but a vital way for students to process and communicate their world.
Your Responsibilities
- Inspiring Studio Leadership: Plan and deliver high-quality practical and theory lessons across KS3 and KS4, fostering a "studio culture" of respect and creativity.
- GCSE & Portfolio Success: Guide Year 10 and 11 students through their coursework and controlled assessments, helping them build professional-grade portfolios that showcase a range of media and techniques.
- Technical Instruction: Teach a broad spectrum of skills, from traditional drawing and painting to printmaking, 3D sculpture, or digital design.
- Art History & Context: Weave critical analysis and art history into practical projects, encouraging students to draw inspiration from diverse artists and movements.
- Exhibition & Display: Take pride in celebrating student work by organising school displays and virtual galleries, raising the profile of the arts across the school.
- Inclusive Creativity: Differentiate projects to ensure that students of all artistic abilities-including those with SEN-can find success and pride in their creations.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in Fine Art, Design, or a related creative discipline.
- Portfolio of Passion: A deep personal interest in the arts and a stay-current attitude toward modern techniques and digital tools.
- Classroom Management: The ability to manage a busy studio environment safely and effectively, ensuring students remain focused during independent project time.
- Organisation: Excellence in managing art supplies, equipment, and the high volume of physical work generated by GCSE cohorts.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one urgently through Randstad).
