We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Qualified English Teacher (QTS) to join a wonderful Secondary School in Bury St Edmunds. Your Responsibilities
- Inspiring Lesson Delivery: Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across the English curriculum, including Language and Literature.
- GCSE Preparation: Guide Year 10 and 11 students through their set texts and creative writing, providing the tools they need to excel in their exams.
- Literacy Advocacy: Foster a love for reading across the school, helping students of all abilities find confidence in their written and spoken word.
- Inclusive Scaffolding: Differentiate lessons to support students with diverse needs, ensuring that every learner can access complex themes and vocabulary.
- Data-Driven Progress: Use regular assessments to track student growth, providing constructive feedback that helps them bridge the gap to their target grades.
- Collaborative Contribution: Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of innovative schemes of work.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in English Literature, Language, or a related field.
- Subject Passion: A deep knowledge of the curriculum and the ability to spark curiosity in students regarding classic and contemporary texts.
- Classroom Management: A positive and proactive approach to managing the classroom, building rapport with students through mutual respect.
- Adaptability: The skill to tailor your teaching style to meet the needs of a mixed-ability cohort.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one urgently through Randstad).
