We are partnering with the outstanding Harris Academy Greenwich to recruit a dedicated and highly motivated Assistant SENCO for a maternity cover contract. This is a non-teaching position, making it the perfect fit for an experienced SEN practitioner, HLTA, or education professional looking to focus 100% of their energy on SEND provision, coordination, and team leadership.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvision Management: Coordinate and oversee the implementation of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and targeted interventions across the academy.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and deploy a skilled team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to ensure high-impact classroom support.
Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the local authority to review progress and tailor support.
Assessment & Tracking: Monitor, track, and report on the academic and social progress of SEND students using data to adapt provisions.
Inclusion Advocate: Promote a culture of high expectations and inclusive practice across the entire school community.
Experience: A proven track record of working with SEND pupils in a secondary mainstream or specialist setting. Experience in an Assistant SENCO, Lead LSA, or HLTA role is highly desirable.
Qualifications: While Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is welcome, it is not required for this non-teaching post. We want to hear from highly experienced SEND professionals with strong leadership skills and deep knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
