An excellent opportunity has opened for a Child Protection Chair to join Leicestershire County Council's Safeguarding Service. This post offers a high hourly rate and a great work-life balance, structured specifically around a 2-day working week.
Working Pattern & Hybrid Operations
- High Earning Potential: Earn £42.00 per hour on a part-time basis.
- Flexible 2-Day Structure: Positioned for 2 full working days per week (days of the week are flexible to suit candidate availability; short/split days are not applicable).
- Conference Operations (~30/70 Split):
- Initial Child Protection Conferences (ICPCs): Conducted face-to-face at various county office bases across Leicestershire (including Loughborough, Coalville, Hinckley, and Wigston).
- Review Conferences: Conducted virtually, allowing you to chair from home.
- Work From Home: Administrative duties and report preparation outside of scheduled conference times can be completed remotely from home.
- Team Connection: Monthly face-to-face team meetings held at County Hall.
Core Responsibilities
- Chair Statutory Conferences: Independently lead both Initial (in-person) and Review (virtual) Child Protection Conferences, facilitating meaningful participation from families and multidisciplinary partners.
- Quality Assurance: Robustly evaluate and monitor Child Protection Plans to prevent drift, ensuring clear, outcome-focused actions are established.
- Safeguarding Leadership: Champion child-centred practice and ensure the child's voice remains central throughout the statutory process.
Candidate Requirements
- Professional Body: Qualified Social Worker with active Social Work England registration.
- Substantive Experience: Proven post-qualifying experience at a senior practitioner, consultant, or management level within statutory Children's Safeguarding.
- Chairing Proficiency: Strong track record in facilitating complex, multi-agency meetings, managing conflict, and evaluating risk.
- Mobility: Ability to travel to county bases across Leicestershire (Loughborough, Coalville, Hinckley, Wigston, and County Hall) for in-person conferences and monthly team meetings.
