Role Purpose
The Director of Compliance will be accountable for the strategic direction of the Group compliance to legislation and industry best practice.
To provide leadership to the Compliance teams, ensuring they remain aligned to our organisational goals and values. Supporting the design and delivery of multiple work-streams aimed at the elimination and / or mitigation of risk across each of the company's operations, improving performance through the evolution of health & safety systems, to current standards and legislation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure group and customer compliance with statutory obligations relating to health & safety, building safety & fire safety.
- Obtain clear understanding of legislative changes and ensure changes are carefully considered and included in the review, improvement and update of Vegner Group policies and approach to compliance.
- Maximise business opportunity within Vegner Group and wider Odevo Group.
- Develop and implement the organisations compliance strategy and systems framework for risk reporting and management, ensuring the safety, wellbeing and protection of people, assets, customers and wider stakeholders.
- Ensure current business opportunity for revenue by providing a positive, compliant service that meets customer needs and expectation.
- Ensure profitable service is provided by controlling costs to the business in relation to providing services.
- Promote continuous improvement across group. Work with the executive team to ensure the relevant training and support is in place to ensure continuous improvement across the group.
- Developing the organisations Health & Safety strategy and framework for risk mitigation, ensuring the safety, wellbeing and protection of people, assets, customers and wider stakeholders.
- Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new, and upcoming health and safety legislation and standards. Work with key stakeholders within the industry (e.g. TPI, RICS) to understand impact and ensure that systems and procedures are in place to meet legal compliance.
- To work with Senior Managers across the group to develop and promote a positive safety culture and develop a structured audit program to continue to drive H&S performance across the group.
- Review and develop health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring this is implemented consistently across the group by way of system reporting and auditing.
- Collate and hold information & data on relevant properties affected by the contents of the Building Safety Act/Fire Safety Act from across the Group to analyse, identify patterns and advise on where changes may be necessary.
- Support HR and Learning/Compliance team(s) with the development and implementation of suitable training programs to ensure employees at all levels of the organisation have appropriate knowledge and skills.
- Accomplish financial targets by forecasting requirements, assisting with the preparation of budgets.
- Manage staff within the team in line with Group guidelines and ensure staff guidance and wellbeing is maintained.
- Ensure all members of the team are briefed and coached in Vegner Group processes, practices and ethos. Within this role there needs to be a clear understanding about the meaning of customer focus, service excellence and portfolio retention.
- To manage all other duties as they arise as a result of the above and as a result of the growth of the Vegner Group operation and its subsidiary businesses.
Person Profile / Skill Set
- Excellent knowledge of H&S and Fire and structural safety
- Experience with forecasting models
- The ability to interpret financial data
- Exceptional communication skills
- Broad experience in Property Management related services
- Management experience essential
- Strong organisational skills and ability to react to suit operational support requirements, must be able to organise time effectively and prioritise tasks to cope with fluctuating workloads.
- High level of accuracy in checking & processing information - numerical and data format
- Ability to form good relationships with colleagues, clients and vendors
- Able to work on own initiative, make effective decisions and as also work as part of a team
- A positive flexible attitude
- Ability to interview and employ Inspectors and administrators and successfully build a team that will help them succeed in achieving the above.
- Able to complete day to day management tasks including performance management reviews, holiday approvals and return to work interviews where necessary.
