We are looking for a dedicated Qualified Primary English Teacher (QTS) to join our partner Primary School in Stevenage for a long-term or permanent placement starting in September 2026. This vibrant, forward-thinking school places a premium on literacy development, early reading frameworks, and creative writing. This full-time role is perfect for an enthusiastic educator who can deliver a balanced, imaginative Primary English curriculum, close learning gaps, and build the confidence that empowers every child to articulate their ideas clearly.
Your Responsibilities
- Inspirational English Delivery: Plan, prepare, and execute high-quality literacy and English lessons that align with the National Curriculum, ensuring accessibility for lower-ability pupils and stretch opportunities for higher-attainers.
- Early Reading & Phonics Mastery: Lead or support systematic synthetic phonics programs (such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.) to build foundational literacy skills in early years and KS1.
- Creative Writing & Oracy: Design engaging modules foutilisingcused on poetry, structured storytelling, and grammar, while cultivating classroom debates and presentation opportunities to enhance student oracy.
- Progress Assessment & Tracking: Implement robust assessment frameworks to accurately monitor reading ages, writing stamina, and comprehension skills, utilising data to inform targeted catch-up strategies.
- Inclusive Classroom Leadership: Manage and deploy classroom Teaching Assistants effectively to support pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Special Educational Needs (SEND).
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a strong primary English specialisation are welcome to apply.
- Primary Curriculum Expertise: A deep, up-to-date knowledge of the primary English curriculum, spelling, punctuation, and grammar (SPAG) frameworks, and effective reading strategies.
- Engaging Classroom Management: The ability to cultivate a highly organised, positive, and behaviour-managed classroom ecosystem where students feel safe to express their ideas.
- Commitment to the Full Academic Year: The professional reliability to take on a full classroom responsibility role starting in September 2026.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
