Our office location is in Cheadle Hulme, South Manchester, SK8 5BL. We are looking for an estimator to join the office team but work will also include site visits across the North-West with use of a company pool van for this with expensed fuelcard.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will play a crucial role in evaluating project costs, preparing estimates, and ensuring that projects are completed within budget. This position requires strong skills in cost control and the ability to analyse various factors influencing project expenses. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders. Working as part of a team including engineers and sub-contractors, the successful candidate will also be involved in sourcing materials and maintaining client relationships with updates on various works projects. Our clients are based across the North-West and wider North areas and site visits will be required with use of company vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for projects by analysing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation.
- Conduct thorough research on materials, labour, and overhead costs to ensure precise budgeting.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Monitor ongoing projects for cost control, identifying areas for potential savings or adjustments.
- Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, including calculations and assumptions made during the estimating process.
- Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals for new projects.
- Stay updated on industry trends, pricing changes, and new materials or technologies that may affect project costs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or manufacturing industry is preferred.
- Strong understanding of cost control principles and practices.
- Proficient in using estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
