Core Responsibilities
- Section 7 & Safeguarding Reports: Conduct thorough, analytical assessments and prepare high-quality court reports in both Public and Private Law care proceedings.
- Voice of the Child: Engage directly with children and young people to ensure their views, wishes, and feelings are clearly represented within legal proceedings.
- Expert Advocacy: Represent child welfare priorities clearly in family court settings, providing expert advice to magistrates and judges to inform safe, permanent decisions.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Liaise effectively with legal representatives, local authority social care teams, and external agencies.
Mandatory Candidate Criteria
- Professional Registration: Active registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Post-Qualifying Experience: A minimum of 3 years' PQE in statutory Children's Social Care (Child Protection, Court Work, Looked After Children, or CAFCASS).
- Court Competency: Demonstrable expertise in writing analytical court reports (Section 7, Rule 16.4, or care proceedings) and giving evidence in court.
