Health and Safety Manager - Major Infrastructure

Rate - £500 - £550 / day - full time role

Are you an experienced health and safety expert looking to take full ownership of a high-profile and high-value civil infrastructure project? We at Randstad are working with a leading civil infrastructure contractor who is recruiting a Health and Safety Manager on a 2-year contract (with the option of securing a permanent role) in North-East Lincolnshire.
As the H&S Manager, you will be reporting to the Head of Health, Safety And Wellbeing (HSW) in the UK and Ireland and you will be required to lead all HSW activities across the project, ensuring the highest standards of compliance, leadership and continuous improvement are achieved.
Responsibilities include;
... - Leading the development and delivery of the project's HSW strategy.
- Managing the team.
- Ensuring the project complies with all legislation, client requirements and company management systems.
- Leading project inspections, audits and assurance activities.
- Acting as principal HSW advisor to the Project Director and senior leadership team.
- Developing, implementing and maintaining project-specific HSW management plans, procedures and safe systems of work.
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Monitoring performance and leading meetings on HSW.
- Providing high quality HSW training throughout the team.
Working with different teams (construction, engineering, commercial etc) collaboratively to support project planning and ensure safe project delivery.
The successful candidate will have:
- Extensive proven experience leading HSW on major construction or infrastructure projects (ideally marine, port or heavy civils).
- Tier 2 COMAH experience is a bonus.
- A NEBOSH Diploma (preferred) or NEBOSH Construction Certificate with substantial experience. CMIOSH or working towards Chartership.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and its application within Design & Build projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership and personable skills
- Experience leading incident investigations, audits and continuous improvement programmes.
- Strong understanding of behavioural safety, occupational health and wellbeing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Power BI and document management systems.
