Bury St Edmunds
Do you believe that every student has a "Maths brain" just waiting to be unlocked with the right teacher?
We are seeking a dedicated and analytical Qualified Maths Teacher (QTS) to join a forward-thinking Secondary School in the Bury St Edmunds area. We need someone who can move beyond rote learning to show students the beauty of logic, problem-solving, and the real-world applications of Maths. Whether you are helping Year 7s master the basics or coaching Year 11s through high-stakes trigonometry, your goal will be to build confidence and "mathematical resilience" in every learner.
Your Responsibilities
- Engaging Curriculum Delivery: Deliver high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4, making abstract concepts like algebra and calculus accessible and relatable.
- GCSE Strategy: Lead Year 11 cohorts through intensive exam preparation, focusing on reasoning skills, mock analysis, and personalised intervention.
- Numerical Literacy: Work to improve the "functional skills" of all students, ensuring they leave school equipped for the financial and logical demands of adult life.
- Adaptive Scaffolding: Use a variety of teaching methods-from visual aids to interactive software-to support students with dyscalculia or those requiring extra challenge.
- Collaborative Planning: Work with the department to share "Best Practice" resources and contribute to a unified approach to the Mathematics curriculum.
- Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed records of student achievement, using data to pivot your teaching strategies and close attainment gaps.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in Maths, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Logical Clarity: The ability to break down complex, multi-step problems into clear, understandable instructions.
- Positive Persistence: A patient approach that encourages students to see "wrong answers" as vital steps in the learning process.
- Strong Classroom Management: The ability to foster a focused, calm, and productive learning environment where students feel safe to take risks.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one urgently through Randstad).
