Stevenage
Are you an enthusiastic, Qualified Primary Teacher with a passion for numeracy, logic, and problem-solving?
If you want to secure a vital, full-time Maths specialist role for the upcoming academic year within a supportive school, Randstad Education wants to partner with you.
We are seeking a dedicated Qualified Primary Maths Teacher (QTS) to join our partner Primary School in Stevenage for a long-term or permanent placement starting in September 2026. This forward-thinking school heavily prioritises analytical skills, practical problem-solving, and STEM integration. As a full-time mathematics specialist, you will take full responsibility for planning and delivering a vibrant, inclusive primary maths curriculum-helping pupils overcome "maths anxiety," master core arithmetic, and develop critical thinking skills that last a lifetime.
Your Responsibilities
- Inspirational Maths Delivery: Plan, prepare, and teach high-quality mathematics lessons across Key Stages 1 and 2, ensuring strict alignment with the National Curriculum frameworks.
- Maths Mastery Frameworks: Implement concrete-pictorial-abstract (CPA) approaches to ensure pupils develop a deep, structural understanding of mathematical concepts rather than just memorising procedures.
- Targeted Learning Interventions: Design and deliver tailored reasoning and problem-solving sessions to stretch higher-ability pupils while providing robust catch-up support for those closing learning gaps.
- Progress Assessment & Tracking: Utilise formal and formative assessment data to track arithmetic fluency, mathematical reasoning, and times-table progress, adapting lessons to support all learners.
- Inclusive Classroom Leadership: Manage and deploy classroom Teaching Assistants effectively to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) or primary generalists with a strong background, degree, or specialism in mathematics are highly encouraged to apply.
- Primary Numeracy Expertise: A deep, up-to-date knowledge of the primary mathematics curriculum, reasoning strands, and the tools required to build arithmetic fluency.
- Engaging Classroom Management: The ability to maintain a highly organised, positive, and structured learning environment where mistakes are celebrated as a vital part of the learning journey.
- Commitment to the Full Academic Year: The professional reliability to take on a full-time, full-responsibility classroom role starting in September 2026.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
