Can you inspire students to see beyond their own borders and find their voice in a second language?
We are seeking a linguistically gifted and culturally passionate Qualified MFL Teacher (QTS) to join a vibrant Secondary School in the Cambridge area. We are looking for a specialist who can teach French and/or Spanish to KS3 and KS4 (with the ability to teach both being a significant advantage). This is a role for a teacher who doesn't just teach grammar and vocabulary, but opens a window to the world, fostering global citizenship and a genuine love for international cultures.
Your Responsibilities
- Immersive Lesson Delivery: Plan and deliver high-energy, interactive lessons that focus on the four key pillars: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
- GCSE Excellence: Prepare Year 10 and 11 students for their AQA or Edexcel exams, with a heavy focus on building oral confidence and spontaneous speech.
- Cultural Integration: Incorporate film, music, and authentic texts into your lessons to bring the language to life and provide real-world context.
- Adaptive Scaffolding: Use creative strategies-such as gamification, visual aids, and interactive software-to engage mixed-ability cohorts and support students with SEN.
- Literacy Development: Strengthen students' understanding of English grammar and structure by drawing parallels with their target language.
- Departmental Collaboration: Assist in organising cultural exchange opportunities, international trips, or language clubs to boost the profile of MFL across the school.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in French, Spanish, or a related Modern Languages discipline.
- Near-Native Fluency: Exceptional command of the target language(s) and a deep understanding of the associated cultures.
- Classroom Energy: The ability to create a "fail-safe" environment where students feel confident to take risks and speak out loud.
- Organisation & Drive: A proactive approach to planning and the ability to track student progress meticulously to hit departmental targets.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one urgently through Randstad).
