About the School: More Support, Less Stress
Are you looking for a teaching role where you can actually focus on teaching, rather than managing a crowded classroom of 30+ students?
Aurora Chaldon School is a brand-new, purpose-built SEND secondary school (opened September 2025) for young people aged 11-16. Our students are bright and capable, but they require extra support with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing-typically associated with Autism.
We believe that teachers can only do their best work when they are properly supported. That is why we offer a teaching model built on small class sizes, exceptionally high staff-to-student ratios, and a full on-site team of speech, language, and occupational therapists who work right alongside you.
The Role: Rewarding, Impactful Teaching
As a Nurture Teacher, you will deliver a creative, adapted curriculum to a small group of students. Your main goal is to make learning accessible, build your students' confidence, and help them develop vital life and emotional skills.
What you will do:
Plan & Teach Creative Lessons: Deliver an engaging curriculum modelled on the National Curriculum, but adapted to match the unique paces, interests, and passions of your students.
Work as a Team: Collaborate daily with classroom assistants and our therapy team to support each child holistically.
Track Individual Success: Set personalised goals for your students and contribute to their progress reviews (including EHCPs and PEPs).
Foster a Calm Environment: Use a gentle, non-confrontational approach to behaviour. You will focus on understanding our students' needs and helping them learn to regulate their emotions.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from teachers of all backgrounds-whether your experience is in mainstream secondary, primary education, alternative provisions, or dedicated SEND schools. Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Required to qualify for the £5,000 welcome bonus.
Experience with Autism/SEND: A genuine understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The Right Attitude: A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to teaching, and a willingness to occasionally support our nearby satellite site in Caterham.
Desirable:
Experience adapting the National Curriculum for learners with diverse needs.
Any additional training or qualifications related to SEND or behaviour support.
Why Join Us?
A £5,000 Welcome Bonus for Qualified Teachers.
Excellent Work-Life Balance: Small class sizes mean significantly less marking and data-heavy administration than mainstream schools.
Career Growth: As a new school within the established Aurora Group, there are vast opportunities for professional development and promotion.
How to Apply
If you want to make a real, visible difference in young people's lives every single day, we would love to hear from you.
