An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the founding team of a brand-new, specialist secondary school. We support young people aged 11-16 with Autism (ASC) and associated social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This role allows you to help shape a therapeutic, supportive learning environment from the ground up.
The Role
As a Nurture Teacher, your focus will be on the holistic development of your students, blending academic progress with emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a Nurture Group: Establish a predictable, safe, and stimulating classroom culture where students feel secure.
Tailor the Curriculum: Design and deliver highly differentiated lessons aligned with individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner with therapeutic and support teams to weave trauma-informed strategies into daily learning.
De-escalation & Empowerment: Utilise non-confrontational techniques to support students with social communication and emotional regulation.
What You Will Need
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is an essential requirement for the role.
SEND Expertise: Demonstrable experience working with neurodivergent learners, specifically those with ASC and SEMH needs.
Key Attributes: High levels of empathy, emotional resilience, and the adaptability to modify lessons based on the classroom dynamic.
