As part of our growth strategy, The Aurora Group are really pleased have recently opened a brand new SEND Secondary School in September 2025 in Chaldon, Surrey for young people aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. All of our students have access to a broad and exciting curriculum, allied to the national curriculum, personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With a model of small classes, high levels of classroom support and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team we are able to give students "every opportunity to achieve"
We are looking to recruit a Nurture Teacher to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school at the start of their journey.
The main purpose of the role:
The purpose of the Nurture Teacher is to deliver high quality teaching and learning for children and young people with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing needs, typically associated with autism. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties and may present with some challenging behaviours.
Key duties:

- To work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- To maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum.
- To set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.
- To monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures.
- To develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.
- To contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
- To provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
- To maintain an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism in order to be able to plan for effective teaching and learning.
- To work in a non-confrontational way to ensure individual needs are met.
- To appropriately manage challenging behaviours within the school policy and procedures.
What We're Looking For:
Essential:

- Working understanding of ASC and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including complex presentations
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications in SEND
- Experience in curriculum development for learners with SEND, especially those with autism
