Are you a qualified Occupational Therapist with specialist expertise in paediatric practice and housing adaptations?
Gateshead Council is recruiting a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join their specialist 0-25 Adaptations Team. Offering £27.49 per hour on a full-time basis, this role focuses exclusively on delivering life-changing environmental adaptations and equipment solutions for children, young people, and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adaptation Assessments: Conduct comprehensive environmental, functional, and home adaptation assessments for children and young people aged 0-25.
- DFG & Major Housing Modifications: Design, specify, and recommend major adaptations (including Disabled Facilities Grants / DFG) and minor structural modifications to facilitate safe, accessible living.
- Specialist Equipment Provision: Identify, trial, and prescribe specialist seating, moving and handling equipment, and assistive technology tailored to pediatric needs.
- Multi-Agency Liaison: Collaborate closely with housing officers, architects, surveyors, health professionals, and family carers to oversee adaptation projects from initial assessment to completion.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualifications & HCPC: Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy with active HCPC registration.
- Essential Experience: Proven experience working directly with children and young people (0-25) as well as hands-on experience specifying housing adaptations.
- Full-Time Commitment: Applicants must be willing and able to work full-time hours (37 hours per week).
- Mobility: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for home and site visits across the Gateshead area.
