We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Qualified PE Teacher (QTS) to join a wonderful Secondary School based in Bury St Edmunds. We need a specialist who can deliver a diverse range of practical activities while also excelling in the classroom for GCSE and BTEC Sport theory. Whether you are coaching a first-team rugby squad or introducing a Year 7 group to the fundamentals of movement, your goal will be to foster a lifelong love of physical activity in every student.
Your Strategic Impact: Responsibilities
- Diverse Practical Delivery: Plan and lead high-quality lessons across a broad spectrum of sports, including team games, athletics, gymnastics, and individual sports.
- Theory Specialist: Teach GCSE PE and/or BTEC Tech Award in Sport, breaking down complex topics like anatomy, physiology, and sports psychology into engaging, relatable content.
- Extracurricular Champion: Lead and coordinate after-school clubs, fixtures, and tournaments, providing students with opportunities to represent the school and develop their competitive spirit.
- Inclusive Participation: Differentiate activities to ensure that all students-regardless of their athletic ability or SEN needs-feel confident and included in physical activity.
- Safe Practice Leadership: Maintain the highest standards of health and safety, ensuring all equipment is used correctly and student welfare is prioritised at all times.
- Departmental Growth: Assist in the organisation of Sports Days and inter-house competitions, raising the profile of PE and healthy living across the entire school community.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
- Sporting Versatility: Proficiency in coaching multiple sports and a willingness to stay current with the latest officiating rules and training techniques.
