The Role
Are you a natural leader who thrives in high-pressure, fast-paced environments? We are looking for an experienced Portering Services Manager to lead a large-scale team within one of Oxford's major hospitals.
Working for a premier maintenance and facilities provider, you won't just be managing a department; you will be the heartbeat of the hospital's operational flow. You will ensure that patients, equipment, and essential supplies reach their destinations safely and efficiently, directly impacting patient care and clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Development: Oversee, mentor, and motivate a large team of porters and supervisors, ensuring high standards of performance and professional conduct.
Operational Efficiency: Manage complex rotas and resource allocation to meet the 24/7 demands of a major healthcare site.
KPI Management: Monitor and report on Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring response times and safety protocols are consistently met.
Health & Safety: Maintain a rigorous focus on Manual Handling, Infection Control, and COSHH regulations.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for hospital clinical staff and trust management to ensure seamless service integration.
What You'll Need
Proven Experience: A strong background in facilities management, logistics, or hospitality, ideally within a healthcare or high-footfall public environment.
People Power: Demonstrated experience managing large, diverse teams (50+ staff) including recruitment, disciplinary procedures, and training.
Cool Under Pressure: The ability to make quick, logical decisions in a critical care environment where priorities shift by the minute.
Tech Savvy: Proficiency in using task management software and digital radio systems to track team movements and efficiency.
Empathy & Professionalism: A commitment to patient dignity and a "customer-first" mindset.
