About the School
Located in the scenic outskirts of Ely, our dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) school supports primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, nurturing, and highly structured environment where every child is understood, valued, and given the space to thrive. We believe that behaviour is communication, and we work tirelessly to re-engage young learners with education through trauma-informed practices and a highly personalised curriculum.
The Role
We are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and highly skilled Primary SEMH Supply Teacher to join our team for a fixed-term cover starting this September.
You will take lead of a small class supported by experienced Teaching Assistants. This is not just a "gap-filling" supply role; you will be an integral part of our teaching community for up to two terms, building vital consistency and trust with children who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, differentiated primary curriculum lessons tailored to the individual learning levels and EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) goals of each pupil.
Implement positive behaviour management strategies, focusing on de-escalation, emotional regulation, and restorative practices.
Create a predictable, calm, and nurturing classroom environment.
Collaborate closely with on-site support staff, therapists, and the leadership team to ensure holistic care.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with proven experience teaching the UK Primary Curriculum.
Strong, proven experience working with children with SEMH needs, ADHD, ASD, or trauma histories.
Excellent de-escalation skills (training in Step On, Team-Teach, or similar positive handling frameworks is highly desirable).
A resilient, patient, and emotionally intelligent approach to classroom management.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build quick, genuine rapport with vulnerable young people.
What We Offer:
A deeply supportive and collaborative staff team and leadership framework.
Excellent staff-to-pupil ratios with dedicated, experienced TAs in your classroom.
A vibrant, well-resourced learning environment designed specifically for SEMH needs.
Competitive daily pay rates paid to scale.
