Primary Teaching Assistant (Phonics Specialist)
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team in Leeds. This role is specifically designed for an individual who understands the nuances of the UK primary curriculum and can deliver high-quality Phonics interventions.
You will work closely with class teachers to support pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2, ensuring that no child is left behind in their reading and writing journey.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, your daily tasks will revolve around academic support and classroom management:
Phonics Delivery: Leading small group interventions using recognised UK schemes to improve literacy and decoding skills.
1:1 Support: Providing tailored assistance to pupils who require extra help to meet curriculum targets.
Classroom Preparation: Assisting the teacher in setting up learning resources and creating an engaging, inclusive environment.
Progress Tracking: Monitoring pupil performance and providing detailed feedback to the Class Teacher and SENCO.
Safeguarding: Maintaining a safe learning environment in line with school policies and UK legislative standards.
