We are seeking a high-calibre Qualified Year 2 Primary Teacher (QTS) to join an excellent partner Primary School located in the welcoming outskirts of Stevenage. This full-time position begins in November 2026 and runs through to July 2027, offering fantastic continuity and stability. As the full-time class teacher for a bright Year 2 cohort, you will lead them through their pivotal final year of Key Stage 1, focusing on building independent reading, foundational numeracy, and creative writing skills in a warm, collaborative school community.
Your Responsibilities
- Inspiring Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, creative lessons that align with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum, tailored to meet the varying learning styles within your Year 2 classroom.
- Phonics & Early Reading: Continue to embed systematic synthetic phonics and guided reading strategies to expand vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and foster a genuine love for books.
- SATS Preparation & Assessment: Utilise formative assessments to track pupil milestones in reading, writing, and maths, providing gentle encouragement and targeted support to prepare pupils confidently for end-of-stage frameworks.
- Inclusive Classroom Leadership: Manage and deploy your classroom Teaching Assistants effectively, ensuring that pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) receive tailored, integrated support.
- Positive Environment: Foster a calm, stimulating, and inclusive classroom culture rooted in positive reinforcement, where every child feels safe to take risks in their learning.
- Parental Partnership: Maintain open, supportive communication with parents and carers regarding student progress, and participate actively in staff meetings and whole-school events.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. Proven experience teaching within a UK primary school setting (Key Stage 1 or Year 2 specific experience is highly advantageous).
- Deep KS1 Framework Knowledge: A strong understanding of early childhood pedagogy, phonics screening frameworks, and effective primary numeracy strategies.
- Exceptional Classroom Management: The ability to establish clear routines, structure, and a warm, encouraging environment from day one.
- Commitment to the Contract: The professional reliability to commit to a full-time, 5-day-a-week schedule from November 2026 straight through to the end of the academic year in July 2027.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
