We are seeking a proactive Primary Teaching Assistant to join our partner Primary School based in Hemel Hempstead for a long-term placement starting in September 2026. This vibrant school supports children across Early Years, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. We are looking for an adaptable educational assistant who can motivate children, run targeted group interventions, and foster an inclusive environment where every child feels confident to learn.
Your Responsibilities
- Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in setting up learning activities, managing classroom dynamics, and ensuring a safe, focused environment.
- Small Group Interventions: Lead guided reading sessions, phonics practise, and basic numeracy groups to reinforce daily learning outcomes.
- 1:1 Pupil Mentoring: Provide dedicated, tailormade support to pupils requiring extra assistance or those with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
- Behaviour Management: Reinforce positive behaviour strategies and help children maintain focus and engagement during tasks.
- Resource Preparation: Help prepare creative teaching aids, display boards, and learning materials for daily classroom projects.
- Child Wellbeing & Safety: Monitor student welfare during class time and break periods, upholding strict safeguarding standards.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Experience: Previous experience working with children in a UK primary school, nursery, youth club, or care setting (Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification is desirable).
- Key Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, adaptability, and a solid understanding of primary phonics or foundational maths.
- Positive Attitude: A warm, proactive demeanour capable of encouraging young children and working collaboratively with teaching staff.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
