We are recruiting a compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant for a long-term placement starting September 2026 at a vibrant partner school in Watford. Working across Early Years, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, this position is ideal for an individual committed to boosting pupil self-esteem, running targeted group sessions, and supporting an inclusive classroom culture.
Core Responsibilities
- Classroom Setup & Support: Assist lead teachers with preparing daily learning materials, setting up activities, and keeping the classroom structured and safe.
- Targeted Intervention Groups: Facilitate small group sessions centered on early reading practice, foundational writing, and fundamental math skills.
- One-to-One Assistance: Offer direct, individual support to pupils requiring additional academic guidance or children with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
- Positive Behaviour Reinforcement: Use constructive behaviour strategies to keep pupils focused, motivated, and actively participating in lessons.
- Resource Creation: Assist in developing interactive display boards and organising hands-on resources for classroom projects.
- Child Wellbeing & Safety: Uphold comprehensive safeguarding standards across classroom environments, school assemblies, and outdoor break duties.
Candidate Requirements
- Relevant Experience: Background working with children in primary schools, nurseries, or youth environments (Level 2 or 3 TA qualification preferred).
- Key Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, adaptability, and a strong understanding of foundational primary literacy and numeracy.
- Proactive Mindset: An encouraging, hands-on approach with a commitment to working collaboratively alongside teaching teams.
- Compliance: Holds an Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to process a new application via Randstad).
