Stevenage
Are you an enthusiastic, nurturing, and proactive individual looking for a stable, full-time role for the upcoming academic year?
Can you provide the steady encouragement and academic support that helps primary school children build confidence and thrive?
Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant or looking to leverage your transferable skills in childcare, youth work, or coaching, Randstad Education wants to partner with you.
We are seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join our partner Primary School in Stevenage for a long-term position starting in September 2026. This welcoming, community-focused school is renowned for its inclusive environment and excellent student development programs. In this full-time role, you will work across Early Years, Key Stage 1, or Key Stage 2, serving as a reliable mentor and an essential support system for pupils as they navigate their foundational school years.
Your Responsibilities
- Targeted Classroom Support: Work closely with students on a 1:1 or small-group basis, delivering tailored literacy, numeracy, and phonics interventions to help close learning gaps.
- Teacher Partnership: Collaborate seamlessly with the Class Teacher to set up learning resources, manage classroom displays, and maintain a highly organised, positive environment.
- Inclusion & SEND Advocacy: Provide dedicated guidance to pupils with additional needs (such as Autism, ADHD, or speech and language delays), implementing individual learning plans with patience and care.
- Positive Behaviour Support: Encourage high standards of behaviour by utilising the school's positive reinforcement strategies, helping children stay focused and emotionally regulated.
- Progress Tracking: Observe and record student engagement and breakthroughs, offering clear feedback to the Class Teacher and SENCO to help shape future learning plans.
- Holistic School Care: Assist with playground supervision, lunchtime duties, and school excursions, ensuring the highest standards of safety and student welfare.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- The Right Mindset: Exceptional compassion, a warm and approachable demeanour, and a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
- Transferable Experience: Prior experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare, youth club, or sports coaching setting is highly desirable.
- Proactive Energy: A forward-thinking approach, with the ability to anticipate classroom needs and support pupils before frustration sets in.
- Commitment to Consistency: Because young children thrive on predictable routines, you must be able to commit to a full-time, Monday-to-Friday schedule for the full academic year.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
