Key Responsibilities
As a Principal Social Worker within the service, you will balance practice leadership with strategic quality assurance:
Practice Leadership: Act as a senior practice champion across the fostering team, modeling outstanding, child-centered statutory care and supporting complex case decisions.
Quality Assurance: Oversee and quality-assure comprehensive fostering assessments (including mainstream and kinship/connected care) before submission to the fostering panel.
Panel & Regulations: Apply an expert understanding of National Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards to ensure full regulatory compliance across the service.
Staff Mentorship: Support the Service Manager by providing professional guidance, clinical reflection, and supervision to social workers and supporting staff.
Mandatory Candidate Criteria
To meet the strict compliance and regulatory guidelines for practicing in Wales, all applicants must satisfy the following parameters:
Professional Registration: You MUST be actively registered with Social Care Wales (applications cannot be considered without this credential).
Fostering Expertise: Strong, demonstrable post-qualifying experience within a statutory local authority fostering or kinship service.
Assessment Mastery: Deep knowledge of fostering panel processes and a proven track record of writing or auditing complex Form F / Kinship assessments.
