Are you a passionate and experienced Registered Manager ready to make a profound difference in the lives of children? Our client, a dedicated provider of exceptional care, is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Ofsted Registered Manager to take the lead across two children's homes in Birmingham. This crucial role involves managing all operational aspects of both homes, which support young people aged 8 to 18 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The primary goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where every young person can heal, grow, and truly thrive.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Management
- Take full operational oversight for two children's homes, ensuring seamless day-to-day management.
- Guarantee continuous adherence to all statutory and regulatory frameworks, including Children's Homes Regulations and stringent Ofsted standards.
- Provide robust line management and effective supervision to Deputy Managers and senior staff across both sites to ensure high-quality, consistent service delivery.
- Manage operational logistics, including budget control, resource allocation, and the efficient creation of staffing rotas.
- Foster an open, positive, and therapeutic organisational culture that champions team cohesion, continuous professional development, and child-centred outcomes.
Care Quality & Safeguarding
- Maintain absolute responsibility for all safeguarding and child protection practices across both residential services.
- Develop, implement, and consistently review highly individualised care plans, ensuring they comprehensively address the young person's emotional, social, developmental, and educational needs.
- Champion a therapeutic and stable living environment that actively promotes healing, enhances resilience, and prepares young people for successful independence.
- Oversee effective transition planning, concentrating on building essential life skills for young people preparing for adulthood.
- Conduct regular internal audits and rigorous quality assurance processes to uphold the highest standards of care excellence and regulatory compliance.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative, and professional working relationships with external partners, including Local Authority social workers, health services, educational providers, and families.
- Act as the key advocate for the children's best interests, representing both homes at multi-disciplinary reviews, inspections, and other critical meetings.
- Promote and ensure a consistent, holistic, and joined-up care approach is implemented across both sites.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure all staff receive mandatory and specialised professional development, with a focus on safeguarding and trauma-informed care practice.
- Maintain meticulous and compliant administrative records, including accurate reports and risk assessments, in line with legal and regulatory mandates.
We're Looking For:
Requirements:
- Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead and develop multi-site teams, with a minimum of 2 years' leadership experience in a children's residential care setting (multi-site experience preferred). Must hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Specialist SEMH Knowledge: Strong experience working with, and supporting children and young people with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Safeguarding & Regulation: In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation, the Children's Homes Regulations, and Ofsted inspection frameworks. Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and regulatory requirements is essential.
- Therapeutic Practice: Knowledge of trauma-informed and therapeutic care practices. Additional training in therapeutic models or trauma-informed approaches is highly desirable.
- Care Planning: Skilled in implementing individualised care plans and effectively managing complex behaviours.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with young people, staff, families, and external professionals.
- Personal Qualities: Resilient, calm under pressure, and solution-focused.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 year's leadership experience in a children's residential care setting (multi-site experience desirable).
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Full UK driving licence (preferred, as travel between homes is required).
