Our client, a dedicated provider of exceptional care, is seeking a Registered Manager for their 5-bedded children's home in Merseyside. This is an incredible opportunity to ensure the physical, social and emotional development of the children resident in the home.
A salary of £50,000-£60,000 (dependent on experience) + bonus
About the Role:
As the Registered Manager, you will take full responsibility for the overall management, operation, and success of the residential service. You will be ensuring that the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and well-being are consistently met for all children and young people residing here.
You will hold a pivotal role, setting the standard by leading a highly professional and nurturing environment for both staff and residents. Your core responsibility is to ensure the welfare of the young people is always paramount by providing them with a safe and inviting home. This accountability extends to staff development; you must ensure all team members have access to the necessary advice and training to meet their needs, in line with established policies.
A key commitment of our client is the effective management of their residential establishments. This involves fostering an environment that successfully balances the provision of care with necessary containment. To achieve this, it is essential that all staff work consistently to deliver care and maintain strong partnership working at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Young Person Focus and Welfare
- Prioritise and ensure the paramount welfare of the young people at all times.
- Establish and maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.
- Monitor and record the progress of young people diligently to ensure their needs are consistently met.
- Provide regular updates and information regarding the young people's progress to placing authorities.
Staff Management and Support
- Ensure all staff have access to appropriate advice, training, and policies necessary for their professional development.
- Organise staff rotas to meet all legal requirements.
- Maintain and operate an out-of-hours on-call system.
- Note: The Manager may be required to work a shift on rare occasions when no other staff cover is available.
Operational and Compliance Oversight
- Ensure arrangements are in place for the safety and security of the building, its contents, and grounds.
- Oversee that maintenance and refurbishments are completed appropriately and any defects are quickly fixed.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with Health & Safety requirements, including the regular conducting and practicing of risk assessments.
- Oversee the management of external resources, such as consultants.
Stakeholder Liaison and Management Support
- Liaise effectively with other establishments, professional bodies, and groups with which the company maintains a relationship.
- Advise and assist the senior management team in their functions.
- Attend required meetings and provide reports to the Directors as necessary.
We're Looking For:
Leadership & Experience:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in residential childcare is essential.
- Must include at least 2 years in a management role, with a documented history of achieving an Ofsted rating of "Good" or higher.
- Hold the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or an equivalent qualification).
Child-Centred Approach:
- Possess a deep and expert understanding of learning and disabilities, mental health and child development.
- Dedicated to a truly child-centred approach, promoting co-regulation and fostering reflective practice within the team.
Professional Qualities & Compliance:
- A leader who models compassion, strong accountability, and a profound understanding of relational care.
- Quality-driven and passionate about working closely with regulators to achieve and maintain "Outstanding" outcomes.
