Shift Pattern & Benefits
- Salary: £28,000-£31,500 per annum.
- Shift Pattern: The shift pattern is 14 shifts a month, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with one weekend on and one weekend off. The role requires four sleep-ins and offers the option to be a paid-on-call.
- Annual Leave: Annual leave is 24 days plus bank holidays.
- Overtime: Overtime is paid at time and a third.

There are also developmental opportunities, including promotion within the care organisation or training to become a physical intervention trainer. Key Duties & Responsibilities
The Senior Care Officer/Team Leader is responsible for leading and supervising a team of residential care officers to deliver safe, consistent, and child-centred care in a small children's home setting. The role ensures the individual needs of children are met in line with their personal plans, safeguarding principles, and the home's statement of purpose. You will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, oversee shift management, and model best practice in line with relevant regulations.
- Child-Centred Care: Ensure the physical, emotional, social, cultural, and educational needs of each child are met.
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead, motivate, and supervise staff during shifts.
- Safeguarding & Behaviour Support: Safeguard children by identifying, reporting, and responding promptly to risks of harm or abuse.
- Professional Practice & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant Welsh legislation and procedures.
- Partnership Working: Work closely with local authorities, social workers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Health, Safety & Well-being: Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children and staff.
Essential Requirements
- QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People (or a commitment to complete it) is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in residential childcare is necessary.
- The home has received excellent ratings from CIW for Wellbeing, Care and support, Leadership and management, and a good rating for Environment.
