Are you passionate about empowering young people as they transition into adulthood? Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our busy frontline 16+ Leaving Care Team.
In this role, you will be instrumental in guiding care-experienced young people aged 14-18 towards greater independence. Working across Aberdare and Pontypridd, you will manage a varied caseload focusing on complex needs, safeguarding, and Care and Support Plans (CASP).
Key Responsibilities
- Caseload Management: Manage a diverse caseload of young people aged 14-18, specifically those who are care-experienced and preparing for adulthood.
- Statutory Duties: Undertake vital work relating to Care and Support Plans (CASP), safeguarding, and child protection.
- Risk Management: Identify and intervene in cases of child exploitation, ensuring robust safety plans are in place.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with young people, their families, and partner agencies (including housing, education, and health) to secure positive, long-term outcomes.
- Advocacy & Independence: Provide tailored support that champions the voice of the young person, helping them navigate the practical and emotional steps toward independent living.
Essential Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of 6 months' post-qualifying experience working in the UK as a registered Social Worker, ideally within a Leaving Care, 16+, or frontline children's team.
- Qualifications: A recognized Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, etc.).
- Registration: Current professional registration with Social Care Wales or Social Work England.
- Compliance: An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) and a solid 3-year reference history.
- Mobility: A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for community visits across the Rhondda Cynon Taf borough. (Note: Sponsorship is not available for this position.
