        Principal purpose of the roleTo install, support and enhance the force network and telephony systems by undertaking technical tasks, delivering project work and providing customer support.Main activities of the role The operation, configuration and maintenance of the force network and telephony systemsLiaising with internal customers to identify and resolve incidents and problems, responding to requests for service and delivering project work packagesResearching, identifying and delivering new technology to reduce costs, improve performance and support business processesApplying ITIL Service Management and PRINCE2 project management methodologies as requiredProviding 3rd line support and expertise in the network field within the ICT department and forces, and to external forces and agencies as requiredLiaising with and managing external contractors, consultants and suppliersDealing with security related incidents in line with force policies, external guidance and appropriate regulations from external agencies such as NCSC.Creating, updating and enhancing documentation, including writing technical instructions, drawing diagrams and creating wiki style pagesProducing reports on technical and functional aspects of networking and telephony to all levels of audience including general users, senior officers, external technical experts, etc.Data Analysis - interpretation of complex numerical data generated by network management systems, and interpretation, processing and presentation as requiredDeveloping and maintaining own technical knowledge in networking and telephony and working to develop that of others in the team and departmentProvide flexible working hours / overtime / on-call as requiredAny other duties commensurate with the role and grade as may reasonably be required by line management.Desirable skills:Strong security knowledge including Cisco ASA / FirepowerIP voice / video / telephone experience to include MS Teams, Cisco CUCMRandstad Business Support is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
