Job Overview: The Line manager will lead and manage a shift team within the factory. They will be responsible, through their team, for delivering all of the business metrics across people, process, machines and materials. They will lead continuous improvement efforts through employee engagement to deliver improved results in efficiency, quality, cost, safety, delivery and morale in line with business needs. Responsibilities: Drive adherence in all policies, standards and practices in safety, quality and environment.Identify ownership areas for all employees on your team that further enhances quality, safety and environment results areas.Full accountability for delivering results through people, plant, process and costs within their shift team.Achieves required targets in Efficiency, Quality, Safety, Cost, Delivery and Morale.Takes a short term tactical and longer term strategic view of the organisation to deliver improvements over time.Drive plant efficiency in conjunction with the engineering team and continuous improvement team ensuring efficiency targets and process improvement are delivered.Lead continuous improvement activity with your team to get to root cause of systemic issues.Apply lean methodologies to drive employee engagement and a culture of continuous improvement.Use all forms of improvement tools including Kazan's, root cause analysis, short interval control meetings, six sigma approaches to drive a continuous improvement and engagement culture.Facilitate optimal utilisation of all resources within your plant to deliver the agreed production plan.Working closely with supporting departments e.g. Plant & Materials Schedulers to ensure plant interests are achieved.Co-ordinating required resources from inside or outside the team to deliver required goals.Define expected norms of behaviours that sets high personal standards for all of the team.Effective management of Union relationships and IR issues within the plant.Education:University degree or suitable technical qualification in Engineering/ Food science/Diary science/ Science, or equivalent. Skills and Leadership: Good Technical aptitude / knowledge for plant equipment and machinery.Good communication. Results driven. Ability to lead others. Experience: At least three years previous work experience in a manufacturing environment in a supervisory or managerial role. FMCG preferred.Proficient in IT and use of systems.
