Location: Mansfield & Surrounding Sites Salary: £32,916 - £45,352 (M1 - M6) + Leadership Responsibilities Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (Term Time Only) Requirements: QTS, Driving Licence, and Business Insurance essential
The Vision
Are you a Science specialist with a passion for making the complex simple? We are looking for an ambitious Science Lead to champion a high-quality, accessible curriculum for our learners.
This isn't a "standard" department head role. In our schools, Science is delivered through a mix of 1-to-1 sessions, small groups, and vocational settings. We need a leader who can take the wonders of the natural world and make them resonate with young people who have ASC, SEMH, and complex learning needs.
The Role: A Hybrid Approach
This position offers the perfect balance between frontline impact and strategic leadership. You will benefit from dedicated weekly release time to focus on your Lead duties while remaining grounded in the classroom.
Lead the Curriculum: Design and oversee a diverse, multi-sensory Science curriculum that spans across multiple sites in the Mansfield area.
Elevate Teaching: Act as a mentor and coach to colleagues, delivering targeted CPD and sharing best practices in SEN Science delivery.
Quality Assurance: Work alongside school leadership to conduct observations, identify areas for growth, and implement interventions that directly improve learner outcomes.
Personalise Learning: Collaborate with Learning Managers to ensure that every student's Science pathway is tailored to their EHCP and individual interests.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a scientist at heart and an educator by trade. You should be someone who can inspire staff and students alike, turning abstract concepts into hands-on, meaningful experiences.
Essential Criteria:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): A must-have for this leadership position.
Subject Expertise: Deep knowledge of the Science curriculum with the ability to adapt it for learners with varied cognitive abilities.
SEN Experience: A strong background in (or a significant commitment to) Special Educational Needs.
Mobility: As you will support various sites in the locality, a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
Why Join Us?
You won't be an island. You will receive bespoke support from our Heads of Quality of Education and join a vibrant network of Curriculum Leads across the organisation. This is a space where your ideas are valued, and your professional growth is a priority.
