We are seeking a dedicated Qualified Primary Science Teacher (QTS) to join our partner Primary School in Stevenage for a long-term or permanent placement starting in September 2026. This forward-thinking school heavily prioritises STEM subjects, practical investigation, and environmental education. As a full-time science specialist, you will take full responsibility for designing and delivering a vibrant, inquiry-based primary science curriculum, inspiring curiosity, and equipping children with the critical thinking skills to explore the world around them.
Your Responsibilities
- Inspirational Science Delivery: Plan, prepare, and teach engaging, practical science lessons across Key Stages 1 and 2, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum frameworks for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Hands-On STEM Investigation: Design safe, interactive experiments and practical investigations that encourage pupils to predict, observe, test, and conclude.
- Progress Assessment & Tracking: Implement robust assessment frameworks to track scientific understanding, investigative skills, and vocabulary acquisition, tailoring lessons to support or stretch all learners.
- Inclusive Classroom Leadership: Manage and deploy classroom Teaching Assistants effectively to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).
- Whole-School STEM Advocacy: Lead internal science initiatives, coordinate British Science Week activities, manage the school's science resources, and utilise outdoor learning spaces or school gardens.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) or primary generalists with a strong background or specialisation in science are highly encouraged to apply.
- Primary STEM Expertise: A deep, up-to-date knowledge of the primary science curriculum, working scientific objectives, and safe laboratory/classroom experiment protocols.
- Engaging Classroom Management: The ability to maintain a highly organised, safe, and positive learning environment where practical work can be conducted efficiently.
- Commitment to the Full Academic Year: The professional reliability to take on a full-time, full-responsibility classroom role starting in September 2026.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
