Are you a passionate and adaptable secondary teacher seeking a better work-life balance or looking to explore new school environments along the Norfolk and Suffolk border? Whether you are looking for the total freedom of day-to-day cover, or seeking the stability and connection of a long-term subject placement, we have fantastic opportunities tailored to your schedule.
We are currently partnering with a welcoming network of secondary schools, high schools, and academies in Thetford and across the surrounding Breckland and Forest Heath area. We are experiencing high demand for reliable, enthusiastic QTS and QTLS teachers across all subject specialisms to support pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with Key Stage 5 opportunities also available).
Whether you are an experienced Secondary Teacher, a subject specialist looking to step back from full-time responsibilities, or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to build confidence and network across local schools, we can help you find your ideal role.
Choose Your Ideal Way of Working:
- Day-to-Day Cover: Enjoy total control over your working week with complete flexibility. Choose the exact days you want to work to perfectly balance your personal commitments, hobbies, or family life.
- Long-Term Opportunities: If you prefer building ongoing relationships with departments and students, we offer fixed-term subject placements spanning a term or a full academic year. This allows you to teach your core subject, contribute to curriculum development, and embed yourself fully within a school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, structured lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, maintaining high expectations for learning and pupil progress.
- Create a positive, safe, and productive classroom environment using effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
- Adapt learning delivery to accommodate students with diverse learning styles and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Leave clear handover notes for regular class teachers when fulfilling day-to-day cover assignments.
- For long-term roles: plan, assess, and mark work, participate in department meetings, and contribute to parents' evenings as required.
What We Look For:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (or recognised UK teaching qualification).
- Strong classroom management skills and the confidence to step into unfamiliar secondary settings with ease.
- Subject knowledge across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in your specialist area (e.g., English, Maths, Science, Humanities, MFL, Creative Arts, PE, etc.).
- An adaptable, punctual, and professional approach with excellent communication skills.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
Benefits of Working With Us:
- Competitive daily rates of pay, processed weekly and reflective of your experience level and subject area.
- A dedicated local consultant with deep knowledge of the secondary education sector in Thetford and the surrounding areas.
- Complete flexibility to set and update your availability on your own terms.
- Direct exposure to top local secondary schools, which frequently leads to direct, permanent job offers.
