Are you a teacher who believes every single young person deserves to feel seen, valued, and capable of success? Do you thrive in environments where building trust and connection is just as important as delivering the curriculum?
If you are ready to move away from the mainstream "one-size-fits-all" approach and make a genuine, lasting impact, an outstanding Alternative Provision City Hub in Nottingham wants to meet you.
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate, resilient, and creative SEN Teacher to join a dedicated, supportive team. You will be working with bright, capable pupils who have often felt let down by traditional schooling-young people who don't just need a teacher, but a champion who truly understands them.
While you will deliver high-quality teaching across a flexible curriculum, strengths in KS3/KS4 Maths and Functional Skills are a massive plus. Have other hidden talents or personal passions? Bring them with you! Your unique interests help create a rich, vibrant, and engaging learning experience for these students.
What Teaching Looks Like Here
Small Groups, Big Impact: Teach intimate groups of just 3-6 learners, giving you the rare opportunity to tailor learning and build deep, meaningful relationships.
1:1 Support: Provide targeted 1:1 teaching when needed, helping vulnerable students transition smoothly into group learning.
Dedicated TA Support: Benefit from excellent TA allocation for larger groups (4-6 learners) and targeted 1:1 support under your expert direction.
Freedom to Innovate: Enjoy manageable planning and marking with a heavy emphasis on creativity, student voice, and out-of-the-box thinking.
Holistic Growth: Blend vital academic goals with personal development and life-skills learning.
What You'll Do
Inspire and Adapt: Deliver engaging, personalised lessons that prioritise student wellbeing, academic progress, and confidence.
Build the Foundation: Set ambitious, tailored targets for each student using robust baseline assessments.
Lead with Empathy: Use proven relational and restorative approaches to guide behaviour and re-engage learners.
Collaborate: Partner closely with specialist staff, families, and external agencies to pave smooth pathways for your students' next steps.
Champion Safety: Model high-level safeguarding practices to maintain a secure, inclusive, and purposeful environment.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications: QTS, PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
Subject Flex: The ability to teach a specialist subject (ideally Maths/Functional Skills) while contributing to wider curriculum areas.
The Right Mindset: Experience in SEN or alternative provision is desirable, but not essential. If you have the passion and the empathy, we can teach you the rest.
Skills: Confidence in utilising restorative behaviour strategies.
Mobility: A valid driving license is required due to the nature of the role.
Why You'll Love This Job
"You get to be the teacher you always wanted to be. No rigid data-crunching routines-just small classes, creative freedom, and a team that genuinely cares about your wellbeing as much as the students'."
