Randstad Education is currently recruiting a permanent SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive, forward-thinking school community in Cambridge. Working full-time during term time, this role is ideal if you are looking to plant long-term roots within a school where you can truly watch your students grow and succeed over time.
As a permanent SEN Teaching Assistant, you will deliver tailored, person-centred support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language delays, sensory processing needs, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Targeted 1-to-1 & Group Support: As a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant, you will guide assigned pupils through adapted curriculum tasks, keeping them engaged, confident, and focused.
- Behaviour & Sensory Regulation: Implement positive encouragement, sensory breaks, and visual schedules to help pupils manage anxiety and maintain emotional regulation throughout the day.
- Promote Independence: Support students in building vital social communication skills, self-advocacy, emotional resilience, and practical life skills.
- Collaborate with the SENCO & Multidisciplinary Teams: Track long-term pupil progress, maintain observational logs, and work alongside class teachers, speech therapists, and SENCOs to continually refine support plans.
- Inclusive Environment: Help adapt classroom resources and learning materials to ensure all academic and co-curricular activities are accessible to your students.
Candidate Profile
We are searching for a warm, dependable SEN Teaching Assistant who brings enthusiasm, emotional intelligence, and commitment to special education.
- Prior experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, support worker, care assistant, or youth mentor is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of diverse needs (e.g., Autism spectrum condition, ADHD, speech & language needs, or SEMH).
- Calm, patient, and proactive approach with strong communication skills and de-escalation awareness.
- Punctual and committed to securing a permanent, full-time role in Cambridge.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or readiness to process one through Randstad).
- Mandatory UK Right to Work (no visa sponsorship available).
