The Mission
Are you driven by the desire to break down barriers for students with complex learning needs?
We are recruiting for a specialized provision in the Horley/Crawley area dedicated to students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Our goal is simple: to nurture independent learners and provide them with the vital tools they need for a successful transition into adulthood.
The Student Profile
You will be a key support figure for students (up to age 19) navigating a variety of complex needs, including:
SEMH: Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges.
Neurodiversity: Autism (ASC) and ADHD.
Learning & Communication: Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Speech & Language needs.
Behavioral Needs: Supporting students with Attachment Disorders and Oppositional Defiance with a "trauma-informed" approach.
Key Responsibilities
Tailored Interventions: Delivering 1:1 and small-group learning activities specifically designed to meet individual EHCP targets.
Emotional Regulation: Providing a steady, calming presence to help students manage anxiety and social hurdles.
Life Skills Advocacy: Empowering students to develop the practical independence required for life beyond the classroom.
Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborating with local authorities and specialists to ensure every child receives holistic, wrap-around support.
Who You Are
Resilient: You stay composed and professional during high-pressure or emotionally demanding moments.
Informed: You have a solid understanding of SEMH and Autism, or a deep desire to specialize in this field.
Empathetic: you believe that "behaviour is communication" and respond to challenges with patience and curiosity rather than judgment.
Proactive: You are a creative problem-solver who can re-engage students who struggle with traditional education.

The "Senior" Professional Insight
In a specialized setting like this, we focus on "Low-Arousal" environments. Because many of these students have Attachment Disorders, your most powerful tool isn't a textbook-it's the consistent relationship you build with them. When a student feels safe with you, their "survival brain" switches off and their "learning brain" switches on. This is where the real breakthrough happens.
Since this role involves supporting students with Speech & Language difficulties, do you have experience using visual aids like PECS or "Now and Next" boards to help reduce their frustration?
