Based at a specialist college site in York, this full-time role is on a long-term basis, with the genuine potential to lead to a permanent contract.

Skills Required
Strong interpersonal skills to support young adults with hearing impairments, speech difficulties, or complex communication barriers.
A passion for mentoring older students and helping them develop independent living and vocational skills.
A calm, encouraging approach to help students navigate challenges and build social confidence.
The ability to work effectively alongside tutors, permanent staff, and speech and language therapists to deliver holistic support.
Job Responsibilities
Providing 1:1 and small group support to college-aged students to ensure they can fully access their lectures, practical tasks, and learning resources.
Assisting tutors in adapting course materials and managing the learning environment to suit individual student needs.
Supporting students during community visits, vocational sessions, and life-skills activities to foster independent living.
Monitoring and recording student progress, boosting their self-esteem, and ensuring all safeguarding protocols are strictly followed.
Essential Requirements
Full eligibility to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available).
An enhanced DBS on the update service, or a willingness to undergo a new check via Randstad.
Previous experience working with young people or young adults with special educational needs within the UK (sensory or communication difficulties are highly desirable).
A genuine desire to empower young adults as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
