Are you a dedicated and resilient educator passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are seeking a proactive SEN Tutor to join a supportive educational setting in Bedford on a full-time, long-term basis.
This is an immediate opportunity to provide tailored academic and emotional support to students who require a bespoke approach to learning.
The Role
As an SEN Tutor, you will work closely with students who may have diverse needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), or Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). Your goal is to break down barriers to learning and build student confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
... - Deliver personalised 1:1 or small group intervention sessions.
- Adapt learning materials to meet the specific EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) goals of each student.
- Foster a calm, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the SENCO and parents.
- Manage challenging behaviour with patience and proven de-escalation techniques.
Candidate Requirements:
We are looking for someone who is adaptable, empathetic, and ready to hit the ground running.
- Experience: Previous experience working with SEN students is essential (school-based, tutoring, or care settings).
- Skills: Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to differentiate curriculum effectively.
- Qualifications: A degree or relevant teaching/TA qualification is preferred, but experience and "personality fit" are paramount.
- Reliability: As this is a long-term role, we require a professional committed to consistency for the students.
- Compliance: Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).

These are some of the requirements that we need from you:
- An Enhanced child DBS on the update service or willingness to get a new one
- Eligibility to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available with this role)
- Able to make an impression on both us and our client
- Previous experience in Schools preferred
- 2 recent professional references (this is essential)
- Flexibly adhere to the needs of the children in a professional and friendly manner
- Good classroom management skills
