Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teacher to deliver creative, highly differentiated lessons to pupils with diverse and complex learning needs. In this role, you will lead a small class of pupils, creating a supportive, therapeutic, and structured environment where every child can overcome their barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and delivering an adapted, sensory-rich curriculum tailored to pupils' EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
Using specialist communication systems (e.g., PECS, Makaton, visual aids) to support non-verbal or pre-verbal pupils.
Managing and mentoring a small team of SEND Teaching Assistants to ensure a safe, coordinated classroom.
Utilizing positive behavioral management strategies (e.g., Team Teach/positive handling) to de-escalate challenging behavior and support emotional regulation.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Must hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
Proven experience teaching children or young people with severe, profound, or complex educational needs (SEND).
Deep understanding of Autism (ASD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), and speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).
Strong behavior management skills combined with a calm, nurturing, and patient teaching approach.
