Location: Bristol area (Hybrid working - split your time between home and our advanced engineering site)
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
Shape the future of advanced manufacturing technology.
We are a global leader in high-tech engineering, and we are seeking a visionary Senior Mechanical Engineer (NPI) to drive best-practice mechanical design for next-generation manufacturing equipment.
Reporting to the Associate Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be the technical anchor for high-profile projects, guiding complex subsystems from initial concept through to high-volume production. This is an exceptional opportunity to champion engineering excellence, mentor rising talent, and see your designs operating on a global scale.
What You Will Do
Technical Leadership: Take full responsibility for the mechanical delivery of subsystems and cutting-edge technology developments.
Drive Best Practices: Advocate for and implement robust mechanical engineering standards to optimize project timelines, cost, quality, and strict technical governance (safety, compliance, and reliability).
Cross-Functional Coordination: Shape and distribute technical work packages across multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring seamless passage through critical project milestones.
Compliance by Design: Ensure all product developments meet strict stakeholder requirements and conform perfectly to global regulations, directives, and standards.
Mentor & Inspire: Act as a role model and technical mentor for junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, consistency, and high-quality output.
What You Bring to the Team
We value diverse perspectives and encourage you to apply even if you don't tick every single box below!
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential (Master's or equivalent experience is highly desirable). Commitment to or progress toward Chartered/Incorporated status is a plus.
Design for X (DFX): A proven track record of applying 'Design for X' principles (Manufacture, Assembly, Cost, Maintainability, etc.) to complex systems.
Technical Mastery: Strong 2D and 3D CAD skills paired with a thorough, deep understanding of mechanical design best practices.
Industry Experience: Solid experience in mechanical design within a relatable, high-precision engineering industry (e.g., semiconductors, automation, aerospace, or medical devices).
Execution Focus: The ability to translate complex, ambiguous requirements into robust, real-world design solutions while staying fiercely focused on project milestones.
What We Offer in Return
Our culture is built on trust, accountability, and the belief that groundbreaking innovation is powered by people.
Career Evolution: Access to lifelong learning, funded training courses, and clear pathways to leadership.
Flexibility: A true hybrid working model that offers the perfect balance between remote focus and collaborative on-site teamwork.
Well-being & Rewards: A competitive salary of £53,000, a comprehensive health and wellness package, and an excellent corporate benefits scheme.
