Job Title: Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner
Location: Dumfries
Salary: £28,645.50 to £29,464.50 per annum
Additional Earnings: £67.50 per sleep-in (Expect ~10 sleep-ins per month, providing an additional £8,000+ per year)
Shift Pattern: Flexible 2 days on, 4 days off rota

We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, nurturing care in a supportive, home-from-home environment where young people are empowered to heal, grow, and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner (Team Leader), you will support the House Manager in the operational running of the home while delivering high-quality care directly to our young people. You will serve as a role model, supervising and motivating staff, managing rotas, and ensuring that our care aligns with the highest Health and Social Care Standards and GIRFEC principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the House Manager with daily house operations, staff supervision, and shift lead responsibilities.
- Mentor and guide Residential Childcare Practitioners, ensuring positive model behaviour and dynamic team support.
- Contribute to comprehensive care plans, risk assessments, and monthly reports tailored to each young person's individual needs.
- Promote and protect the wellbeing and safety of young people at all times, embedding SHANARRI indicators into daily care.
- Facilitate educational, social, and community activities to support positive youth development.
- Manage shift rotas, maintain administrative files, and participate in an on-call rotation as required.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Qualifications: SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) and HNC (or equivalent requirement for SSSC registration). Willingness to work towards SVQ Level 4.
- Registration: Registered (or eligible for registration) with the SSSC.
- Experience: Proven experience in a residential childcare setting with strong knowledge of health, safety, and child protection standards.
- Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and report-writing skills.
