Oldham Council is recruiting a skilled Senior Social Worker to join their Duty & Advice (MASH) Team. Offering a competitive rate of £40.00 per hour, this role provides exceptional working pattern flexibility (full-time or part-time) alongside the chance to play a crucial role in screening referrals and protecting children across the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
- Referral Screening & Risk Assessment: Receive, screen, and evaluate referrals relating to children, young people, and families to determine risk levels and threshold pathways.
- Evidence-Based Assessments: Undertake timely safeguarding and risk assessments, gathering and analysing information from partner agencies to inform key decisions.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with Greater Manchester Police, Health Services, Education Providers, and local safeguarding partners to ensure joined-up support.
- Strategy & Duty Advice: Provide professional guidance to partner agencies and the public regarding safeguarding pathways, and actively participate in multi-agency strategy discussions.
- Early Intervention: Promote preventative approaches and early intervention wherever appropriate to reduce the escalation of family need.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualifications & SWE: Recognised Social Work qualification with active Social Work England (SWE) registration.
- Safeguarding Experience: Proven post-qualifying experience in Children's Statutory Social Care (MASH, Duty & Assessment, or First Response).
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to synthesize information quickly, assess risk, and make timely, evidence-based threshold decisions.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for inter-agency liaison and comprehensive record-keeping.
