Randstad Education is working with a delightful and excellent primary school in Bolton who are seeking an SEN Coordinator with experience working with special needs children and who has relevant skills for SEN improvement. Their aim is for all members of the school community to have high aspirations, embrace their unique abilities, and achieve success in all areas of life.

They are seeking someone who is dedicated, and energetic, and who has either past SEN expertise or classroom teaching experience to look at how they can enhance SEN and the assistance they now provide SEN students.

This is a full-time, long-term role running 5 days a week across the academic year.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS AN SENCo:

• Identify and adopt the most effective teaching approaches for pupils with SEN and share the approach with colleagues.
• Monitor teaching and learning activities to meet the needs of pupils with SEN.
• Identify and implement interventions that will develop pupils' learning.
• Liaise with other local schools and external agencies across Bolton and Greater Manchester to ensure continuity of support and learning when transferring pupils with SEN.
• Ensure the school SEND register is up to date and all stakeholders are fully informed about support programmes in place/planned.
• Ensure One Plans/EHCP targets are monitored regularly, are live documents, and their impact is assessed so progress can be evidenced.
• Encourage all members of staff to recognise and fulfil their statutory responsibilities to pupils with SEND and understand the importance of class teachers taking ownership of additional provisions and the progress the children (with SEND) make in their class/teaching group.
• Take the lead in constructing the school's provision map ensuring intervention programmes target the right pupils and staff expertise is deployed appropriately.
• Provide training opportunities for learning support assistants, teachers, and other stakeholders to learn about SEND and work with other colleagues to deliver training on specific intervention programmes.
• Disseminate good practice in SEND across the school.
• Identify resources needed to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and advise the Headteacher of priorities for expenditure.
• Contribute to Senior Leadership Meetings on the effectiveness of SEND provision in the school and be prepared to share this information with other stakeholders.
• Take the lead in liaising, co-ordinating, and managing all external support offered to the school locally and from the local authority/agencies.

REQUIREMENTS FROM THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Be a qualified primary teacher with 3 or more years of class teaching or a SENCo with previous experience.
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or the National Award for SEN co-ordination (NASENCO), or both.
• Have evidence of working with children with Special Educational Needs.
• Have a thorough knowledge of the latest SEN Code of Practice.
• Be knowledgeable in supporting the progress of pupils with a range of abilities and additional needs.
• Be highly organised and able to manage their time effectively.
• Be passionate about striving for the best outcomes for every child.
