Location: Southampton (Various locations across the city)
Salary: £16.00 - £18.00 per hour
...
Hours: Flexible hours available! We have both full-time (37.5 hours/week) and part-time roles, including days, evenings, and weekend shifts.
Are you ready to make a real difference?
We are looking for passionate, energetic, and resilient Support Workers to join our team in Southampton. In this role, you will be working directly with children and young people who need extra support due to learning disabilities, mental health challenges, or complex emotional needs.
This isn't your average 9-to-5. No two days are ever the same, and you will be the stable, encouraging presence these children need to thrive, build independence, and discover their potential.
Key Responsibilities
As a Children's Support Worker, your day-to-day focus is on safety, growth, and positivity. Your core duties will include:
Daily Living Support: Helping children with daily routines, meal preparation, personal care (where required), and attending school or social activities.
Emotional & Behavioral Support: Building trust and using positive behavior strategies to help children manage big emotions and navigate challenging moments safely.
Creating Fun & Structure: Planning engaging, enriching activities-like trips to the park, arts and crafts, or sports-that promote development and happiness.
Progress Tracking: Writing clear, accurate daily logs and incident reports to ensure the wider care and social work teams are fully informed.
What We Are Looking For
Because of the specialised nature of this role, we need professionals who can hit the ground running. You must bring:
Experience: A minimum of 6 months of experience working as a children's support worker or in a similar professional childcare/crisis support environment.
Strong Communication Skills: A good level of English reading and writing is essential. You need to be able to read care plans accurately and write clear, professional daily reports.
The Ability to Think on Your Feet: Children's moods and situations can change in a heartbeat. We need people who can keep a cool head, adapt instantly, and make safe, smart decisions in unpredictable moments.
Empathy & Resilience: A genuinely caring nature combined with the thick skin needed to handle challenging behaviors without taking them personally.
Why Join Us?
Excellent Pay: Highly competitive rates between £16.00 and £18.00 per hour.
True Flexibility: Whether you need full-time stability or part-time hours to fit around your lifestyle, we can make it work.
Rewarding Work: You will literally watch your hard work change a child's life story.
