We are seeking an intellectually curious and versatile Teacher of Criminology to join a talented Social Sciences and Humanities faculty at a well regarded secondary school near Sudbury. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a popular subject within a thriving Sixth Form of over 250 students, while also contributing to the wider success of the Humanities department. Whether you are an Early Career Teacher (ECT) or an experienced practitioner, you will benefit from a collegiate culture that values professional coaching and academic rigor.
Your Responsibilities
- Sixth Form Excellence: Deliver high-quality, engaging Criminology lessons to A-Level/Level 3 students, fostering a deep understanding of crime, deviance, and the social justice system.
- Dual-Subject Delivery: Provide excellent teaching in a second subject (Humanities or Social Sciences) across Key Stages 3 or 4, ensuring academic momentum throughout the school.
- Research-Informed Pedagogy: Design and implement well-constructed lessons that utilise current educational research to drive student attainment and intellectual curiosity.
- Technological Integration: Leverage 1:1 iPad technology (provided for both staff and Sixth Form students) to create modern, interactive, and high-tech learning environments.
- Character Mentorship: Act as a Form Tutor, championing the school's core values-Respect, Resilience, and Positivity-and guiding students toward their future "currency" for success.
- Professional Collaboration: Participate in bespoke coaching and training programs, working alongside teachers of Law and Sociology to share best practices and elevate departmental outcomes.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in Criminology, Sociology, Law, or a related Social Science/Humanities discipline.
