Key Requirements
... - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
- Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
- Up-to-date knowledge of current educational frameworks and GCSE exam board specifications.
- Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.
Key Skills
- Advanced Subject Knowledge: Deep understanding of the UK National Curriculum for English Language and Literature.
- Behaviour Management: Ability to implement positive behaviour strategies to maintain a focused learning environment.
- Differentiated Instruction: Skill in tailoring lessons to accommodate diverse learning needs, including SEND and EAL students.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in tracking student progress data to identify learning gaps and implement interventions.
- Formative Assessment: Expertise in utilising live marking and verbal feedback to push student progress.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for engaging students, parents, and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons that challenge all students.
- Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of assigned pupils.
- Set high expectations for student behaviour, maintaining a purposeful and safe classroom climate.
- Contribute to the development and review of the department's schemes of work.
- Participate in parent's evenings, departmental meetings, and whole-school training days.
- Act as a Form Tutor, providing pastoral care and supporting the holistic development of students.
- Identify students requiring extra support and implement targeted interventions to boost achievement.
- Uphold and implement all school and Trust policies, including safeguarding and health and safety.
- Mark student's work regularly in line with the school's feedback and assessment policy.
- Engage continuously in professional development to refine and improve teaching practice.
