This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for an ambitious and proven teacher to step into a full-time temporary teaching position starting in September 2026. The successful candidate will deliver a rigorous, inspiring, and diverse History curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with potential for Key Stage 5). Key Requirements
... - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
- Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
- Curriculum Knowledge: Full familiarity with the current UK National Curriculum for History at KS3 and KS4.
- Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.

- Behaviour Management: Excellent capability to command respect and cultivate an orderly, focused learning atmosphere.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills for interacting with students, staff, and parents.
- Lesson Design: Creative ability to structure lessons that make dense historical events accessible and exciting.
- Data Literacy: Skill in analysing student metrics to pinpoint learning gaps and intervene effectively.
- Digital Competency: Proficiency using interactive whiteboards, learning management systems, and school tracking software.
- Time Management: Strong organisational skills to manage planning, marking, and form tutor duties efficiently.
Responsibilities
Deliver High-Quality Lessons: Plan and execute engaging, academically rigorous History lessons that align with national curriculum standards.
- Track Student Progress: Consistently assess, record, and report on the development and attainment of all students.
- Manage Classroom Behaviour: Maintain high standards of discipline and focus, utilising the academy's established pastoral care guidelines.
- Provide Differentiated Support: Adapt teaching materials to support all learners, including those with SEND and high-achieving individuals.
- Foster Critical Thinking: Teach students how to analyse historical sources, weigh evidence, and formulate balanced arguments.
- Act as a Form Tutor: Provide pastoral care, daily guidance, and support to an assigned form group.
- Collaborate with the Department: Actively participate in Humanities department meetings, resource sharing, and curriculum planning.
- Engage with Parents: Maintain strong, positive communication with parents and carers regarding student progress and behaviour.
- Mark and Feedback: Provide timely, constructive written and verbal feedback to empower students to improve their work.
- Uphold Safeguarding: Adhere strictly to all school and trust safeguarding policies to ensure a safe learning environment.
