Are you looking for a career where you can make a genuine difference every single day? We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individuals to join our skilled education team in a specialist setting for students aged 5-19.
The Role
Working in a specialist environment is very different from a mainstream TA position. Our students have severe social communication difficulties, complex learning disabilities, and often display challenging behaviours. Your role is to help them access therapy-based education, develop life skills, and achieve the highest level of independence possible.
Key Responsibilities:
Small Class Support: Work within small groups (8-13 students) grouped by ability and social needs.
Communication: Help students use Makaton, signs, symbols, and communication aids via a multi-sensory approach.
Emotional Guidance: Provide support when students feel anxious or frustrated, using positive behaviour strategies (Team Teach).
Life Skills: Assist with daily living tasks, which may include providing personal care (full training provided).
Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of teachers and therapists.
Training & Professional Development
We believe that learning never stops. Even if you have no previous experience in a school setting, we provide a comprehensive pathway for your professional growth:
Fully Funded Apprenticeship: All TAs participate in a twice-weekly training program leading to a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship qualification.
Specialist Induction: Includes "Team Teach" Positive Behaviour Support training.
Ongoing Mentoring: Regular 1:1 line management and support from on-site tutors.
What We Are Looking For
Empathy & Resilience: A "can-do" attitude and the emotional stamina to support young people with complex needs.
Communication Skills: Strong literacy and numeracy skills to support learning and complete essential records.
Team Players: Individuals who work safely and effectively within a dedicated team.
Practicality: Due to our semi-rural location, having your own transport is highly desirable.
Why Join Us?
Financial Rewards: Competitive salary plus a £1,000 retention bonus.
Wellbeing: Free hot lunch during term time, free on-site parking, and a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
Health Benefits: Life Assurance and a Medical Cash Plan.
Environment: Work on a beautiful 23-acre site on the edge of the Surrey Hills.
