Belfast Metropolitan College is seeking a dynamic Teaching, Learning and Development Manager. As a core leader within the People and Culture team, you will champion evidence-informed teaching practices and play a pivotal role in driving the ambitious new Powered by People strategy.

Location: Belfast - Titanic Quarter Campus, with cross-campus working
Salary: Band 10 | £29.82 per hour equivalent
Contract Type: 6 months - with scope for extension
Hours: Full-Time (36 hours per week, Monday - Friday) - Part-Time hours would be considered

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you won't just manage processes, you will lead change. You will:
- Drive Strategy: Design, implement, and deliver a world-class learning and development strategy that empowers academic teams to realise their full potential.
- Elevate Pedagogy: Partner with senior leadership to advance continuous improvement, blend emerging technologies (TEL) into the classroom and establish an online resource hub for best practices.
- Nurture Talent: Oversee staff inductions, mentorship paths and formal teaching/assessing qualifications in collaboration with external educational partners.
- Quality & Compliance: Guide academic teams toward inspection-readiness, linking classroom observation data directly to meaningful, tailored training interventions.
Who You Are
- Qualifications: A recognised teaching qualification alongside a minimum of a Level 5 qualification or equivalent OR a Level 6 Degree and a minimum of 5 years Learning & Development Executive level experience (for candidates without a recognised teaching qualification).
- Proven Track Record: At least 3 years of experience driving organisational performance improvements through targeted training, development or people-focused initiatives.
- Sector Expertise: Deep insight into what constitutes outstanding, high-performance teaching across FE, HE, and work-based environments.
- Innovative Mindset: Practical experience creating blended learning pathways and integrating innovative techniques/technologies into training settings.
- Influencing Skills: Exceptional relationship management skills with a proven capacity to consult, negotiate, and collaborate at a senior leadership level.
